Back on track!

Hello, Hello, Hello!

It is good to be writing. I have slipped away for three months with good reason, but that is not what this blog is about. This blog is about how important it is to have a schedule for your children and how important it is to get things back on track when anything unexpected happens and throws your entire day, week, month---- heck, even life off track.

This is something I accomplished quick when our adult children were little. Little League game ran into extra innings-- no problem, I brought afternoon snacks with us... Children got sick and had to stay home from school... No problem, I had soup in the cabinet and movies on standby... Grandma sneaks to town to visit... Ouch, Grandma changes everything, so you have to give Grandma guidelines, lol... But what about a real life, huge, out of the park move from South Florida to Central Oklahoma move? .....That is exactly what happened to our family.

Here goes.. The last week of July, my husband began a new career search. In a week, He and I traveled from West Palm to Orlando, back to West Palm... from West Palm to Chicago, to Clinton, to Oklahoma City, and then back home to West Palm... Only to box every inch of our 2700 square foot home and Uhaul it to a motel near Oklahoma City two weeks later...  THAT IS BOLD! BRAVE! BEYOND BELIEF! That is what a career change can be like and that unexpected anything gave our lives the old dip and twirl without a dip or a twirl waiting... No backup plan like extra snacks or movies.. Just good old fashion parenting that came across loud and clear "We have to get back on track!" So, that is what we did. Our second day in the motel, (we were house hunting-- we had nothing set here and we knew no one), our youngest son attended his first football practice in the community we would live. We found a home and unloaded our truck. We bought furniture and began to get settled in... The key here with all of this is getting back on track.

I know this blog is a travesty versus my lasts, but as you can see I am still trying to get back on track. Parenting is hard. Make a schedule. Stick to it. Be prepared for the things that can happen unexpectantly. And when life moves so fast with the unexpected you are not prepared for-- Do your best to get back on track. Those flukes do not make getting on track easy. We have been here 7 weeks and I am still not back on track, but my son is. He was back on track the first week we arrived. And for any parent, that is all that matters. And for children, being on a schedule is so important. It helps them know what to expect during uncertain times. No room for insecurity, no room for fear.
